What schools in California have an orthodontist training program after dental school?

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

How many students on average are accepted into orthodontist school? NOT DENTAL SCHOOL. What is tuition for orthodontist schooling?

If you go onto the ADA's website and look under education, you can find a tool that will allow you to search by state and specialty the answer you're looking for as far as the schools in California. Class sizes and tuition varies between every orthodontic program…the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota accepts a class of 1 every year, other programs take up to 15 people or so…average class size is about 5 or 6 for most programs. There are about 300 seats a year available for people applying to become orthodontists, and about 1000 people apply for them every year. Tuition ranges from full-ride to 90K+ per year. Use the ADA's website to find the schools you would like to apply to, and go from there. If you are considering applying for orthodontics, you'll want to spread your applications out more than just in California…it's really really competitive to get in anywhere.

How long after you stop brushing your teeth does tooth decay kick in?

If the filthy acidic condition persists, then gradually it will start to become visible to your naked eyes as chalky white areas.

Over time, that starts to turn into brown decayed lesion.

are technicians allowed to do the orthodontist work or help him?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

My son's orthodontist is using technicians to do his work and some of them looks like without experience. I need to ask for certifications or experience time of this technicians? Does the orthodontist can do that.

It varies from state to state, but in most cases the orthodontist only is allowed to cement brackets and place/adjust wires. Licensed dental assistants or hygienists may do place the colored bands/chains. A hygienist is often called to scale off any extra cement or similar problems. Usually, the assistant or hygienist will remove old bands and sometimes remove the wire when the patient first arrives. The orthodontist will come in and take a look and replace a wire or adjust the same one as needed. The assistant and/or hygienist take back over and put bands back on and send the patient on his/her way. Removal of brackets should always be done by the orthodontist, but a hygienist often helps with cement removal. Yeah, impressions and molds are done by either the assistant or hygienist too.

Will my 6old month son have tooth decay if he keep nursing during the night?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

He is taking breastmilk & formula during day time and only breastmilk during the night. He need to be fed three hourly. His tooth has not appeared yet. Will it be decay if he keep nursing during the night?

No – when this is mentioned, it is about babies who go to sleep sucking a bottle of milk, rather than a pacifier. That can affect teeth that are actually there, not teeth that haven't come in yet. Because there is sugar in milk, the baby should not sleep with a bottle of milk (or anything else for that matter) in his mouth. Nursing throughout the night won't hurt your baby or his nonexistent teeth. However, now that your son is six months old, you might want to try to start breaking him of that habit. How will the orthodontist derotate my right 1st and 2nd molars?

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I have braces and have been wearing them for about seven months now. I've had all four of my wisdom teeth removed along with four other teeth to make room for the braces. To close the extraction gaps, my orthodontist placed power chains on my bottom teeth. The left and right side are closing nicely, but the right side has become moderately rotated, but he hasn't done anything to correct the matter. I am worried, please help. Thank you.

Don't worry that's normal , he is waiting for the lower left to be corrected first, he may be studing how your bite will chage too, so , it will take a little long time for what I see to get your teeth straightened, but you'll see at the end will be worthy!!

be happy you're getting your teeth corrected

good luck

What is best to do when a tooth decay occurs?

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I noticed that my cousin (age 15) has some of her teeth decayed, i have researched it up, and found out that she has root cavities.
What the best possible method for her to get rid of tooth decay?

Most dentists would advise fillings if there is true decay . If it is on the roots, sometimes ozone therapy can be done. Ozone is available pretty much everywhere but the US. It sterilizes the root and hardens the tooth stronger than the original tooth. (better than a filling). Some dentists in the US offer ozone, most do not.

if u take him in the daylight, get him to hold his mouth open, quickly look at each tooth to see if they look perfect
any holes or dark patches are not good,, u can see holes pretty easy in good lighting,, good luck xxxxxxxxx

What happens when your orthodontist refuses to treat but left brackets on teeth?

Friday, May 1st, 2009

My orthodontist and I got into a disagreement over the progression of my adult braces. Unfortunately, he decided he no longer wanted to treat me, took the wires off my teeth, but left the brackets on. I consulted a lawyer, who basically said that nothing could be done. I don't have any outstanding payments or anything, and I do have all records from the treatment.

What do I do now though? How do I approach a new orthodontist?

Thanks.

Been there done that, when you see your new orthodontist just explain what happen and be honest. I had no problem when I explained what had happen with the previous doctor.

And through court order the old orthodontist that started the process with my braces had to finish the process with my braces. Some one from the court house was there when he removed the remaining parts of my braces. No charge! Boy was he mad and I had a great smile after he was done.
